Lynne Schroder Artist, Sculptures in Copper

Lynne Schroder is a sculptor based in Callander, in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. She works mainly with copper, creating quirky sculptures that catch the attention and make people smile. Lynne’s love of the outdoors and the coastal environment inspires her humorous sculptures of birds, animals and people.

Her journey into art is not typical! But then, nothing about Lynne is! Born in Wales, the daughter of a  Welsh hill farmer, Lynne spent 22 years as an army nurse before completely changing her career to become a sculptor. Since 2003 – and after attending Telford College for two years on a creative metal art course – she has exhibited in shows and galleries all over the country.

Lynne is committed to community art and believes firmly in the power of art to create community pride. She is co-founder of Creative in Callander, an artists' collective in the town where she lives and works, and is always on the look out for new opportunities and challenges. She is an active member of her community, supporting local groups including the Callander Community Development Trust and Destination Callander.

When she's not at the anvil, Lynne and her husband Jim, an artist himself, enjoy spending time with their 2 dogs and a cat, socialising with the local community and seeing their family. There's never a dull moment in the Schroder household!
